Everything starting clicking for me this week. I really began understanding the bigger picture of the SWITCH Project and its potential impact in the community it is trying to serve. For a while I struggled with the notion with the need of wearable technology for under-served populations having access to such technology. I switched my thinking realizing that one of the greatest aspects of this project is using the technology that is readily available and finding innovating ways to fulfill a potential growing need.
I like that as a collective group we when participated in a diversity training emphasizing microaggressions. This presentation was given by Ms. Cynthia Crawford.
The presentation was pretty good. It was very informative and thought provoking. Ms. Crawford brought to light the impact of lack of understanding of what microaggression are and how levels of it exist in all aspects of people personal and professional lives.
Mel Tananant Boonya-Ananta’s, FIU Graduate Student Presentation brought meaning to the arrays, numbers and clusters of numbers for me. I have to admit I will have to review some of the statistical theorems presented but. It really made me think of the conversion of numbers and being able to break these these number down to form some sense of normalization for the everyday person to understand and have value in it also. I believe there will have to be a push that the wearable technology is more than that. It is more than something that you can scroll, tap and play with to get some monotonous feed back with . The feed back you could potentially receive can be life saving and life prolonging also.
I felt more confident in our meeting with our graduate school advisor for the project. I can now manipulate data better and am constantly learn new code to help interpret as many data arrays as possible.
