My favorite presentation at the end of our program was Seeing Below The Skin For Next-Generation Wearables by Ashok Veeraraghavan. Researchers want to develop wearable devices that see through the skin to find/monitor conditions affecting the health of the person. They feel that their camera can be designed to see through the skin as if it is glass.
Lens-less imaging is a way to get images without using lenses such as those used in cameras. The researcher’s aim is to make small, flat devices that can be incorporated on the back of wearables such as a smart watch. Another use is to put it on the end of endoscopes to get a deeper picture of what is being explored. Very Cool!
The last meeting with our mentor Tianyi Zhang involved valuable feedback on the research posters that we had to produce as part of our research and presentation. I really needed the feedback because I had never created a research poster. It gave me information that I could use to improve my poster and the presentation. I’m grateful because my presentation was well received!
Today is the last day and we had to make a presentation about the research we did this summer. I was so nervous! I think everyone did an Awesome job with their presentations! I’m glad it is over, but it was exhilarating and informative. I was really impressed with how each individual member conducted different research. I’m grateful and Thanks to my SWITCH members and Tianyi for all your feedback. Thank you Allen Antoine, PATHS-UP, and NSF.
Sorry it’s over. I don’t know what to do… Oh, I can go to the beach!
